The University of Dublin or Trinity College was founded in 1592.  The library is one of the largest in Europe and contains over 4 million volumes of books and journals, over 20,000 periodicals and extensive collections of manuscripts, maps and music. It enjoys the privilege of receiving all Irish and UK copyright material - a right it has had since 1801.

We did tour the library mainly to see the Book of Kells, but were surprised to see ancient books and manuscripts on display for all to view.  Very impressive.  We were not allowed to take pictures inside the library.
